Some contend that the first country recordings were the duets waxed by fiddlers Henry Gilliland (1845-1924) and Eck Robertson (1887-1975) on June 30, 1922. “Turkey in the Straw” and “Arkansaw Traveler” were accepted, while “Apple Blossom” and “Forked Deer” were rejected.
