Perhaps no other track better reflects CD 3’s theme of The Farm and the Factory than “Old Country Fiddler at the Dance” by Charles Ross Taggart (1871-1953), recorded in 1916. The scene finds the Old Country Fiddler and his wife as guests of their son at a dance where the participants are dancing to wild music and doing a lot of shocking “modern” moves. He pulls out his fiddle and gives a lesson on what the old dances were like.
