Here is Ida Cox (1894-1967) singing “Chattanooga Blues” from 1923, with composer and pianist Lovie Austin (1887-1972) at the keys. In 1928, Clarence Greene stole the song and renamed it “Johnson City Blues,” which thereafter became an early country iconic recording.
