Baltimore-born John J. Fisher (1866-1922) sings “The Girl I Loved in Sunny Tennessee” on an 1899 brown-wax cylinder. Fisher, described variously as a baritone or a bass, specialized in sacred and sentimental fare. He was active in the recording business between 1897 and 1904, before leaving to pursue work in insurance and real estate.
