De Little Old Log Cabin in de Lane by Carroll Clark and Vess Ossman (1909)
CD 1, track 28
The first recordings by African American baritone Carroll C. Clark were not the serious vocal work in which he had trained but, instead, plantation folk songs such as “De Little Old Log Cabin in de Lane” by Will S. Hays. Here Clark is heard from 1909, accompanied on banjo most likely by Vess L. Ossman.
