Don’t You Quit Me Daddy by Sara Martin’s Jug Band (1924)
CD 3, track 25
Today’s reveal is the 100th, and we saved up a good one. It’s Sara Martin’s Jug Band performing “Don’t You Quit Me Daddy” from 1924. Thanks to our friend Colin Hancock, who told us that Martin and her band made the very first commercial recordings of jug band music. Clifford Hayes is on violin, Curtis Hayes is on banjo, and Earl McDonald plays the jug. Rarely heard, and never heard better than this!
